Couples Counselling/Therapy: Relationship Therapy

Most relationships will at some stage become “settled” and the routine can become a little boring. This is normal. Sometimes the relationships can come unstuck for more serious reasons. Either way, our team are again equipped to help talk through these issues with a view to resolving the “problems”

Addiction Services

Thomas P. O’Connor - Director of Addiction Services

Addiction is a huge part of our services. Often misunderstood for what it is, addiction takes many forms from substance misuse to shopping. We have two experts in the field - our Director of Addiction Services, Thomas P. O’Connor has spent most of the past twenty years either studying or working in this field. A recovered addict himself, Thomas knows first hand the pain and misery of Addiction.

Our company also works with clients who live with, work with, or teach people who have addiction problems. This will be done through one to one counselling, talks/seminars and hopefully, in the near future, classes to teach concerned persons about addiction.

Additional Services

BEREAVEMENT/LOSS

This can involve anything from the death of a loved one, through losing a pet to losing your home or job. There are stages we go through when we suffer bereavement or loss and all our counsellors are trained in this area. Ms Fiona Donohoe is our expert in this field.

SUICIDE

When one loses somebody through suicide, there is always the “could I have done more” and “How could I not have seen this coming?” questions.

Those who are left behind have to try make sense of what has happened and often fall ill themselves trying to get over the loss in addition to dealing with these questions.

Our counsellors have all trained in the ASSIST suicide prevention courses in addition to having worked in at least one of the agencies that deal mostly with suicide and those with suicidal tendencies. Again, Ms Fiona Donohoe is our expert in this area.

DEPRESSION

Depression is more than simply feeling unhappy or fed up for a few days. This awful illness can take many forms and is graded from mild to severe. It can also be endogenous or reactive and is one of the main reasons why people die by suicide.
The good news is that with the right treatment and support, most people with depression can make a full recovery. Recent research has shown that the most successful treatment for depression involves medication in addition to “talk therapy”.
